September | View from the Chair

I am committed to ensuring a sustainable future for the Wendover Parish Council. The Parish Council offers a truly local way of delivering important services, as well as supporting people and organisations in the village. Councils are only as good as the work they do, and that work depends largely on inputs from the community. Councillors are a channel where proposals can be developed, but we want to broaden the base and tap into your expertise. Think of it as the Parish Council for busy people, maximum influence for very little of your time. How can you help? Come to our Clocktower open day on Saturday the 21st of September to find out more. There’s free ice cream!

One of the most fun and convivial things the Parish Council organizes each year is The Wendover Village Quiz. If you always fancied University Challenge, this is for you. Teams of three face off in a battle of wits, answering questions that veer from Brittany France, to Britney Spears. As quizmaster, Alan Myers, who is Wendover’s Bamber Gascoigne or Jeremy Paxman depending on your age, puts them to the test. There’s also a chance to beat the Chairman, not perhaps as hard as it should be! This is the 20th running of the annual village quiz so why don’t you come along and enjoy this fun event while you sip on a beverage from the cash bar and try not to shout out the answers from the audience. Visit https://www.wendover-pc.gov.uk/annual-quiz for more information and the dates of each round of the quiz.

We have said goodbye to one of our grounds team who recently resigned. Tony has worked for the PC on a part-time basis for many years. The council and his colleagues wish him well for the future.
