Open Spaces

Witchell Meadow

Witchell Meadow is a popular green space in Wendover, enjoyed by dog walkers, families and members of Wendover Cricket Club. The meadow offers open grassed areas ideal for recreation and relaxation. On the left-hand side of the meadow is a small pond, along with two picnic tables. Additional seating is located in the far-left corner, where spring visitors can enjoy displays of daffodils and bluebells.

At the rear of Witchell Meadow runs Heron Path, a well-used walking route through the village. Following the path to the left leads directly to Wendover High Street, home to historic buildings, independent shops and a wide range of cafés, pubs and restaurants. A short walk further, just off Wharf Road, is the start of the Wendover Arm Canal, a popular route for scenic walks and wildlife spotting.

Turning right along Heron Path takes you towards St Mary’s Church, believed to be the oldest building in Wendover. Along this route are access points to the Community Orchard, Hampden Meadow Playground and Fitness Trail, as well as Hampden Pond, making the area ideal for families and outdoor activities.
