Welcome to
Wendover Parish Council
Assets of Community Value

Wendover Parish Council is asking residents to support an application to protect Walnut Tree Meadow and Barlow Wood as Assets of Community Value. These two green spaces are valued by local people, and your views will help support the case for their protection.
Do you use Walnut Tree Meadow or Barlow Wood? Would you like to see them preserved as Community Assets? If so, we would be very grateful if you could complete our short survey. Residents’ comments and testimonials will be an important part of the application.
Barlow Wood is the small wood on the other side of the canal from Walnut Tree Meadow, across Oliver’s Bridge. The map above shows the location of both sites.
What is a Community Asset?
A Community Asset is a legal safeguard that can help protect land from immediate development. For Wendover, this would provide an added level of protection for these green spaces for future generations. Community Asset status does not change the legal ownership of the land.
Who owns the land?
Walnut Tree Meadow is currently owned by Buckinghamshire Council, while Barlow Wood is owned by the Barlow family, who previously donated Hampden Meadow to the Parish Council 90 years ago. Community Asset status would not affect that ownership.
Why your views matter
The survey asks residents whether they would like Walnut Tree Meadow and Barlow Wood to become community assets, how often they use or visit them, and how they feel these spaces support social interest and wellbeing in the local community. It also asks people to describe each space in three words. These responses will help demonstrate the value of both areas to local residents.
How to take part
Residents can complete the survey online using the link below, or download and fill in a paper copy and return it to the Clock Tower, High Street, Wendover.
Completed paper surveys can also be scanned and emailed to clerk@wendover-pc.gov.uk. Please remember to include your postcode so that responses can be identified as local views on the areas in question.
Deadline for responses: 31 March 2026
