Recycled Coffee Grounds Scheme

Recycled Coffee Banner (1800 x 600 mm).png

Wendover Parish Council is helping reduce local waste by encouraging residents to collect free used coffee grounds from participating businesses in Wendover. It is a simple way to support local shops, reuse a valuable natural material, and give your garden or compost a helpful boost.

How the scheme works

Participating businesses collect their used coffee grounds in biodegradable pouches for residents to take away free of charge. When you are out in Wendover, simply look for the sign in participating shops, pick up a pouch, and use the coffee grounds in your garden or compost. Supply is available on a first come, first served basis.

Where to find free coffee grounds

You can currently collect coffee grounds from:

  • Bread and Brew

  • Lady Grey Tea Room

  • Whitewaters

  • Tres Corazones

More locations may be added in future.

Why use coffee grounds in the garden?

Used coffee grounds can be a great addition to your garden. They contain minerals that support plant growth, including nitrogen, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus and magnesium. They can also help improve soil, attract worms, and may help deter pests such as slugs and snails.

Coffee grounds are also useful for composting, making them a simple and sustainable way to reuse a material that would otherwise be thrown away.

Benefits of the scheme

This scheme helps to:

  • reduce waste from local businesses

  • encourage reuse of a natural material

  • support local sustainability efforts

  • help keep Wendover a thriving place to live, work and visit

  • connect residents with participating local businesses

Important safety information

Please keep coffee grounds away from pets. Coffee grounds and brewed coffee contain caffeine, which can be harmful to cats and dogs if eaten. Warning labels are added to each pouch.
