VE DAY COMPETITION

In celebration of VE Day, residents were encouraged to enter a competition by decorating their houses and gardens in red, white and blue and send through a picture of their efforts. An impressive amount of 36 entries were received! Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, there was an amazing effort put in by all. Wendover really looked joyful!

We are proud to announce the winner of the competition is the Hughes family from Mill Mead, who have won themselves a £50 voucher to spend on the High Street. Congratulations!

“My children (Florence, 6 and William, 3) made a large banner and some homemade bunting. We strung up vintage posters from WWII (donated by my neighbour) and decorated the pavement too!

We also took part in a door step minute silence, played the last post over some loud speakers, listened to a recount from an elderly neighbour of her experience of VE Day 75 years ago, and enjoyed a social distancing street party complete with war time flapjacks!” – Sophie Hughes
