Hampden Pond Works

You may see some works at the pond as we look to measures that will try and maintain a steady pond level. This will allow the ongoing development of marginal plants and improve water quality. It allows the Council to consider re-stocking with fish and offer the pond as a water source heat pump for St Mary's Church. The works will require some management of access to the pond but this will be temporary and when completed will have no impact on the space.

Sadly, a recent tree inspection has identified that we have a few trees that now need attention – many around the pond. We have got ash dieback and other issues that we have no option in some cases but to remove trees. We are going to stagger any felling works and see if any trees can be saved. However, if they can be it will only by a dramatic cutting back. You will be able to see the impact of these works for several years, but it is necessary. The Parish Council has been a net planter of trees with many more planted than removed in the past few years. We also support Climate Action Wendover (CLAW) in planting trees in their wildbelt and in designated Parish Council spaces.
