VE DAY CELEBRATION

Wendover Parish Council had planned a VE Day Celebration event to be held on Manor Waste of Friday the 8th May. Sadly, due to COVID-19 we had to postpone the event; however, provided circumstances allow, a similar event will be planned for August.

Undeterred, Wendover Parish Council would like you to join them in a virtual celebration in your own house or garden. Enter our competition by decorating your house or garden in red, white and blue. To enter please send your images to admin@wendover-pc.gov.uk . A winner will be notified on Friday 22nd May 2020.

As originally planned, there will be a Toast to the Nations Heroes of WW2 at 3pm which will be signified by a firework calling notice. Please join us by raising a glass of refreshment of your choice and toasting:

“To those who gave so much, we thank you,” using this unique opportunity to pay tribute to the many millions at home and abroad that gave so much to ensure we all enjoy and share the freedom we have today”.

Following the toast there will be a live stream music performance from local residents Barry Evans and his daughter Emily, from the band Counting Colours. They will start with the Vera Lynn classic ‘We’ll Meet Again’. This will be followed by a number of singalongs from the era before more recent singalongs appropriate to the day. You can join in by visiting the The Legion Club Facebook page just before 3.00pm.

Best of luck with the competition and please keep safe and well.

Please stay at home. It is imperative you celebrate VE Day within your

own house or garden ONLY.
