Vacancy for the position of Estate & Events Manager

 

Working from the Council office in Wendover’s Clock Tower, the Estate & Events Manger will take overall responsibility for the Council’s managed estates, events, and grounds staff.

Reporting to the Council as a corporate body, the successful candidate will lead a strong, committed team, managing the devolved services, managing the Clock Tower utilities, overseeing all Parish Council-owned open spaces (Markets, Manor Waste, Allotments, Play Spaces), driving the Amenities Committee with associated administration and manage and lead events such as our Christmas Celebration Event, Annual Parish Meeting and Community Picnics.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to understand and interpret local government law; possess skills in financial management; experience in line management; excellent organisation and project management skills and a willingness to learn, and a positive response to challenge and change at all times.

Qualifications & experience in Town & Parish clerking are desirable, events & project management along with experience in office IT and people management is essential.

 

37 hours per week (includes some evenings & weekends)

Salary: LC2 SCP 24 – 29 £29,174 - £33,486  (based on experience & qualifications)

Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the ILCA qualification, but the council would consider an exceptional candidate who is committed to obtaining this within three months of appointment. Local council benefits such as a pension scheme, training and holiday pay will apply.

Candidates called to meet with the interview panel, will be asked to give a short presentation (no more than 5 minutes), in the format of their choosing, on “How to organise a successful community event”
