January is the perfect time to think about starting something new – could that something be fostering?
With more than 500 children currently in care in Bucks, they need more foster carers to help look after them – could that person be you or someone you know?
BCC are holding another Fostering Information Evening on Wednesday 16 January where you can go along and find out everything there is to know about fostering with Buckinghamshire County Council.
The event takes place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at:
- Memorial Room, The Hub, Easton Street, High Wycombe, HP11 1NJ
Members of the fostering recruitment team will run through the process of becoming a foster carer, tell you all about the support, training and allowances available and answer any questions you may have. You can also hear direct from some of their current foster carers about their experiences of fostering.
Councillor Warren Whyte, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services explained more about the event: “Anyone who may be thinking about fostering is likely to have a long list of questions about what it involves. Our information events are the perfect opportunity to get answers to those questions and hear more detail about fostering with Bucks.”
Even if fostering is not something you can or want to do, do you know someone who could?
Warren continued: “With the number of children in our care steadily increasing we want to get the whole of Bucks talking about fostering. We know not everyone wants to foster but we may have family members or friends who do. By spreading the word amongst the people we know it helps to raise awareness and may give someone the final nudge that they need to get in touch with us.”
